George Ennin, a 53-year-old Ghanaian security guard and father of two teenage daughters, was fatally stabbed in a random, unprovoked attack on January 5, 2026, in the Melrose/Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

Ennin, who lived in the Bronx, was walking to work near Third Avenue and East 157th Street around 2 p.m. on his first day back after a month-long visit to Ghana when a suspect approached him, kicked him, and stabbed him multiple times.
Surveillance video shows Ennin walking approximately 29 steps in search of help before collapsing. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where he later died.

The suspect, Sean Jones, 38, a repeat offender with more than 20 prior arrests—mostly for robbery and assault—has been arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
