53 Nigerian Nationals Arrested by Ghana Police by Engaging in Cybercrime Activities

An intelligence led operation spearheaded by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) over the past forty eight hours has uncovered suspected cybercrime centres operating in East Legon Hills, Afienya, Kwabenya, Weija and Tuba, where young foreign nationals were being exploited and coerced by criminal kingpins to engage in cybercrime activities.

Acting on this intelligence, a joint team from National Security Operations, and some other security services conducted coordinated operations on 16th and 17th January 2026.

The operations reportedly resulted in the arrest of fifty-three Nigerian nationals, including nine principal suspects, while forty four victims were rescued. Searches conducted at the locations led to the recovery of fifty-two mobile phones, sixty-two laptop computers and two pump action firearms.

All arrested persons have been duly profiled and handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for detention and further investigations.
