Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, and two other individuals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, on June 21, 2026.
According to police, Akofena reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on June 22 and was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with investigations.
A search conducted on his vehicle and residence at Kwabenya reportedly led to the retrieval of 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 calibre ammunition, 25 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, several loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols, one of which is registered in his name.
Police investigations also resulted in the arrest of Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson in connection with the case.
All three suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on June 23, 2026, as investigations continue.
