Kade Magistrates Court has sentenced 4 Students who Assaulted a Teacher at Kade SHS

The Kade Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship George Davis Ofori, has sentenced four youths involved in the assault of a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School to pay fines amounting to GHC 3,800 each.

According to the ruling, each convict is required to pay GHC 1,800 to the court as a punitive fine, while an additional GHC 2,000 is to be paid directly to the victim as compensation for the harm suffered. The court emphasized that the compensation component is meant to address the physical and emotional distress caused to the teacher as a result of the assault.

In delivering judgment, His Worship George Davis Ofori condemned the act, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to discipline and safety within educational institutions.

He stressed that teachers must be protected and respected, as they play a critical role in shaping the future of society.

The magistrate further cautioned that the court would not tolerate acts of violence, especially those directed at educators carrying out their lawful duties.
To ensure compliance, the court ruled that any of the convicted youths who fails to pay the full fine will be sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.

The judgment serves as a strong warning to deter similar acts and to reinforce the rule of law.
