Official: FIFA has announced a major change to the national anthem ceremony for the 2026 World Cup.
Under the new protocol, players will no longer line up beside the benches or stand in the traditional formation during their national anthems.
Instead, each team will gather in front of a giant version of their country’s flag, which will be displayed across the pitch.
The change is designed to enhance the atmosphere, create a more dramatic spectacle, and make the center circle the focal point of the pre-match ceremony.
