Snakes enters ECG Transformers in Ahodwo

Power outages—commonly referred to as “dumsor”—have resurfaced in Ghana over the past three weeks, with many residents in Accra, the Volta Region, and the Ashanti Region expressing concern about unreliable electricity supply.
An unusual incident occurred on April 24, 2026, in Ahodwo in the Ashanti Region, when staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) arrived to carry out maintenance on a transformer. Upon inspection, they discovered two pythons coiled beneath the equipment.
Fearing for their safety, the workers halted the operation and sought assistance from officers at the Kumasi Zoo. The wildlife team successfully removed the snakes, allowing ECG personnel to safely proceed with the maintenance work later that day.
