Bishop Duncan Williams, founder of Gospel Hall International, has stated that asking others for money to fund a wedding is a clear indication that a person may not be ready for marriage.

Speaking during a relationship counselling session, he emphasized that marriage requires maturity, responsibility, and long-term commitment, not dependence on external financial assistance.
According to him, couples should be adequately prepared—emotionally, spiritually, and financially, before deciding to marry.

He explained that the focus of marriage should be on shared values, mutual respect, and readiness to build a life together, rather than on hosting an expensive ceremony funded by donations or begging.
Bishop Williams cautioned that starting a marriage with financial dependence can create unnecessary pressure and misunderstandings.
He encouraged couples to prioritize preparation and stability over public display, reminding them that a successful marriage is built on commitment, planning, and personal responsibility, not on how lavish a wedding appears or how much support is received from others.
