A police officer was killed and another sustained injuries following a violent armed robbery on February 8, 2026, along the Zebilla–Widnaba road in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.
The attack occurred while the officers were responding to or engaged during the robbery, leading to a deadly exchange.
The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment, while the fallen officer has been formally identified and mourned by colleagues and the community.
In response to the incident, the Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation and rolled out a special security operation aimed at tracking down the suspects and bringing them to justice.
