ONE DEAD, PROPERTIES SALVAGED AS GNFS SWIFTLY CONTAINS DOMESTIC FIRE AT ASSIN FOSO
One person has died following a domestic fire outbreak at Mempeasem near the Railway Station Quarters, Assin Foso, in the early hours of Thursday, January 8, 2026.
The fire, reported at 0632 hours, involved a kitchen and store room and spread to a Renault Duster salon car and a wooden kiosk. A man in his thirties, known as Kwabena Effutu, was burnt to death, and his badly charred body was handed over to the Police for conveyance to the St. Francis Xavier Morgue.
Firefighters responded promptly and extinguished the fire by 0640 hours, preventing its spread to nearby structures. The kitchen and its contents, as well as the Renault Duster salon car, were salvaged from total destruction. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
