NDC condemns the Vote-Buying During the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned alleged incidents of vote-buying and inducement during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on 7 February 2026.

The party announced the launch of a full-scale investigation and warned that swift and severe sanctions, including the possible annulment of the election, will be imposed on any aspirant found culpable.

This follows widespread social media reports showing Baba Jamal, a senior NDC member and Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria, allegedly distributing items such as 32-inch television sets to delegates to influence votes in his favour.

The Ayawaso East seat has remained vacant following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament.

The NDC has formally written to condemn Baba Jamal’s actions and reaffirm its commitment to internal democracy and fair electoral processes.
