Former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party delegates and Ghanaians to support his bid to lead the party and the nation.

Speaking during his campaign tour ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled forĀ 31st January 2026, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision and policy ideas if elected as the partyās flagbearer and subsequently President of Ghana.

Addressing delegates, Dr. Bawumia stated that he would support Christian pilgrims to visit Israel to pray, in a similar manner to how Muslims travel to Mecca for the Hajj. According to him, Ghana needs prayers to overcome its challenges.
The NPP presidential primaries will see five candidates contesting for the partyās ticket:Ā Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Bryan Acheampong, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Adu Twum, and Kwabena Agyapong.
Dr. Bawumia urged delegates to vote for him, emphasizing unity, faith, and national progress as key pillars of his leadership vision.
