IShowSpeed, the African-American streamer, was ceremonially given a Ghanaian name during his visit to Akuapem-Akropong in the Eastern Region as part of his African tourism experience.

He was named Barima Kofi Akuffo, in line with local customs that honor visitors and connect them to heritage. The naming ceremony attracted wide attention online and across Ghana.
However, a section of Ghanaians has expressed displeasure over the inclusion of the surname “Akuffo” in his adopted name, arguing that it carries specific historical and cultural significance.
The debate has sparked discussions about tradition, identity, and the proper use of revered Ghanaian names nationwide.
