A 60-year-old driver and his mate narrowly survived a deadly armed robbery attack on the Bibiani–Goaso road at Kwame Dwuma Sereso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The driver, Mohammed Yakubu, and his mate were transporting goods in a blue-black Mitsubishi cargo truck (registration number AW 621-12) from Akodie to Kumasi when the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that armed robbers blocked the road at Kwame Dwuma Sereso and opened fire on the vehicle.
Yakubu sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while his conductor also suffered injuries during the attack.
