Egypt has reportedly been instructed by FIFA to remove the seven stars from their national team jersey ahead of their opening match on June 15.
The seven stars symbolize Egypt’s record seven Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles.
However, according to reports, FIFA has requested that the stars be removed before the tournament begins.
FIFA has also reportedly directed the Egyptian Football Association to discontinue the use of gold-colored lettering and numbering on players’ jerseys.
Egypt is scheduled to play its opening match on June 15.
