The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that eight Ghanaian nationals lost their lives in the February 14 terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso. Among the victims were members of the Ghana National Tomatoes Traders and Transporters Association who were conducting legitimate trading activities at the time of the incident.
The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned the attack, expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and announced the immediate air evacuation of injured victims by the Ghana Air Force. Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso continues to maintain close contact with affected citizens and is providing the necessary support.

In response to the incident, new travel guidelines have been issued for high-risk areas within the sub-region.

Ghanaian citizens are advised to limit movement, maintain regular communication with Ghanaian embassies, and seek prior official guidance before undertaking essential travel.
