A 31-year-old woman, Vivian Anto from Sefwi Proso in the Western North Region, has been arrested after allegedly cutting off her 9-year-old daughter’s toe as punishment for returning home late.
The disturbing incident reportedly happened around 9:30 a.m. on April 3, 2026, and was later reported to the police at about 4:20 p.m. by a relative, Stephen Anto.
According to police, the victim, Diana Boakye, was rushed to the Kofikrom SDA Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding well to care.
Investigators say the severed toe was recovered, properly documented, and kept as evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect is currently assisting the police with their inquiries and is expected to appear in court after the Easter break.
The incident has shocked residents of the Juaboso District as authorities continue to investigate the case.
