Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboué has opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing how he lost his fortune and struggled with his mental health following a divorce in 2017.
Eboué said he had invested most of his earnings in England, and during the divorce settlement, he lost his properties, cars, and other assets.
He also became separated from his three children.
According to him, this marked a dramatic financial collapse—from an estimated net worth of $25 million to nothing, leaving him in debt.
During this time, he was also handed a one-year ban by FIFA after failing to pay money owed to his agent. With no income and unable to play football, Eboué described feeling lost and overwhelmed, as the sport had been the central focus of his life.
