Referee István Kovács has been removed from officiating European competitions for the remainder of the season following a controversial decision.

UEFA ruled that his failure to immediately issue a red card to Pau Cubarsí—later corrected through VAR—was a major officiating error.

While other incidents involving Pubill and Musso are expected to be overlooked, UEFA considers the missed red card a far more serious lapse.

As a result, Kovács will not be assigned to any further European matches this season.
