FC Barcelona have filed a formal complaint to UEFA over refereeing and VAR decisions during their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match against Atlético Madrid.
According to the club, their legal team submitted the complaint citing what they describe as officiating actions that were contrary to current regulations and which directly affected the course and outcome of the match.
The complaint focuses on an incident in the 54th minute, when Barcelona claim an Atlético Madrid player handled the ball inside the penalty area after play had resumed.
The referee did not award a penalty, and VAR did not intervene—something Barcelona believes was a significant error.
As part of the complaint, the club has requested that UEFA open an investigation, grant access to the referee–VAR communications, and, if necessary, officially acknowledge any mistakes and take appropriate action.

Barcelona also stated that this is not the first time in recent Champions League campaigns that controversial refereeing decisions have, in their view, unfairly affected the team and hindered their ability to compete on equal terms with other clubs.
