MTN Ghana’s Mobile Money Business is now jointly owned by two entities following a recent restructuring aimed at meeting regulatory requirements.

MTN Ghana’s Mobile Money (MoMo) business is now jointly owned by two entities following a recent restructuring aimed at meeting regulatory requirements.

The ownership has been split between a Dutch holding company and a Ghana-based fintech trust as part of efforts to separate the mobile money operations from MTN Ghana’s core telecommunications business.

The move aligns with regulatory guidelines that require telecom operators to create a distinct structure for financial service operations.

By establishing this new ownership arrangement, MTN aims to strengthen transparency, improve governance, and ensure compliance with financial sector regulations while continuing to expand its Mobile Money services across the country.
