Rhoda Adu, a university student, has been fined GH¢15,000 by a Magistrate Court after failing to honor a promise to visit her boyfriend, Mr. Olapitan, who had sent her GH¢500 for transportation.
According to reports, Rhoda switched off her phone and ignored his calls and WhatsApp messages after receiving the money. Feeling deceived, Mr. Olapitan reported the matter to the police, prompting legal action.
During proceedings, the court reviewed evidence, including the mobile money transfer receipt and chat records.
Based on the presented proof, the court ruled that Rhoda acted dishonestly and imposed the financial penalty as punishment.
