A fire outbreak occurred early this morning 20th January 2026, behind the VVIP Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, causing panic among commuters and traders in the area.
Thick smoke billowed into the sky as the flames spread through several wooden and makeshift structures located close to the busy transport hub.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were promptly dispatched to the scene after receiving distress calls.

Firefighters worked for hours to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby fuel stations and commercial buildings. Their swift response helped bring the situation under control.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded. However, the fire caused extensive damage, destroying multiple shops and goods worth thousands of cedis, leaving several traders counting their losses.

Authorities have secured the area while investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. Residents and traders have been advised to remain vigilant and observe.
